Dharma talks are an important part of the Buddhist teaching
traditions. They help integrate your "felt" experiences
during meditation to the concepts discussed.
Click on blue navigation buttons to go to Audios listed by
Topic or Date. The TOPIC button leads to a list organized
around the different aspects of Buddhist principles and
practices that we explore thematically. There will be a
brief explanation of the topic of the MP3 recording listed with
each title. The DATE button refers to the same topics, but
organized around the date the recording was made.
My sincere desire is for the discussions you may hear from
this site to inspire you to deepen your understanding of the
dharma and to ease your spiritual growth. I've devoted
significant time in my life to understanding the teachings.
However, I can't be certain that what I've said is truly
representative of the classical Buddhist teachings. As
Buddhism has been transmitted down through the centuries and
traveled from culture to culture, the teachings have been
changed (no surprise there; Buddhism emphasizes the conditional
nature of reality). I believe our culture adds the
influences of psychological research, Judeo-Christian
influences, democratic principles and feminism to the already
rich mix. I take full responsibility for any
misinterpretations or awkward concepts I may have contributed to
the process.
As the Buddha often said, the teachings can only be validated
by your direct experience. I hope you benefit from these
offerings, validated by your own deeply felt experience. I
wish you well. Peter Carlson
